Ashford Summer Reunion
3rd July 2025

Once again, the summer reunion for Ashford took place at the Sandy Acres Sports Club Eastwell near Ashford.

Although numbers were lower than in some previous years it was gratifying to see that many of the attendees were from the younger end of our membership which bodes well for future activities.

Anne-Marie at the club put on a splendid buffet which was much appreciated and, of course, the bar was open, which was greatly appreciated with the blazing hot weather.  Sun tanned legs were very much in evidence, and that was just the men folk!

Please remember that although this event is paid for by NARPO it is not restricted to those who served in the Ashford Divisions.  All East Kent Branch NARPO members are welcome should they wish to meet up with friends and former colleagues.

Also, if you served as a civilian employee of Kent Police for over 5 years you are entitled to apply for NARPO membership.

The next event will be the Thanet Reunion on the 26th of September at the Thanet Wanderers Rugby Club.

The Annual Christmas celebration will be held on the 18th of December 2025 at the Canterbury Cathedral Lodge.  1200 hours bar opening for a 1300 hour meal.

Full menus will be published on the EKNARPO website www.eknarpo.org under “Dates for your diary”

Kent Police Male Voice Choir

How many of our members have never heard the Kent Police Male Voice Choir singing?  If you haven't your really have missed something special.

Formed in 1978  under the stewardship of Chief Constable Barry Paine the Choir has gone from strength to strength.  Jools Holland OBE DL is patron of the Choir and Former ACC Sir Edward Crew and his wife Lady Gillian QPM are ambassadors.  The Choir is a nationally recognised ensemble

Consisting of about 50  members the Choir can normally turn out between 30 and 40 members to each concert.  There are still 6-7 original members singing.  Looking a bit older and with greying hair but still young at heart

The Choir performs 12 concerts each year and would love to see NARPO members and their families.  As well as supporting the Choir you would be helping locally chosen charities.

Concert dates are listed on the Kent Police Male Voice Choir website (https://www.kpmvc.co.uk/home ) or ring Roy Waller on 01233 611205

Why not book places at a concert or at attend a Choir practice?  Who knows? You may even be tempted to join

Kent Police Museum  -  Help Needed

Are you passionate about history? Interested in getting experience in the heritage sector? We need your help telling the stories and history of policing in the county at the Kent Police Museum!

The Kent Police Museum has recently reopened at Faversham Police Station and we are looking for volunteers to help tell the story of policing, by welcoming, assisting and supervising the public and groups when they visit the museum.

You’ll need:

  • effective communication skills

  • a friendly and welcoming manner

  • to be prepared to engage with all age groups

There will also be opportunities to work behind the scenes on the collections, helping to catalogue and interpret our artefacts and assisting in developing new initiatives for making Kent Police history available to the wider community.

This role requires a minimum contribution of 3 hours per week, with Saturday support particularly needed. Experience in policing and an interest in heritage is especially welcome.

To apply you simply need to be aged 18 or over and able to get to Faversham Police Station, which is situated close to rail and bus links. Free parking on site is available. All candidates will need to be vetted prior to commencing any volunteering duties.

To find out more and see how to apply, please contact Paul Upton (Museum Curator) at museum@kent.police.uk or telephone 01795 433028.
